On the 14th of April 2010, an Earthquake of 7.1 magnitude struck Yushu(Gyegu), Qinghai Province, China.
2220 deaths recorded, more than 12 000 severely injured.
Time stopped.
Their schools, homes, neighbourhood, the life they had known had collapsed and crashed, literally, before their very eyes.
Time is still moving.
It is sneakily passing through the cracks, taking the lives of the survivors away, one by one.
With the harsh cold weather compounded by snow, 85% of the buildings destroyed and many too scared to return to their homes left standing in fear of aftershocks, shelter and food are in desperate demand.
Relief work is however hampered by the remote location and high altitude epicentre, currently also experiencing sandstorms and below-zero weather. Chinese Officials have been frank about the challenges faced by rescue efforts due to lack of appropriate equipment in the area, many survivors are currently being dug out by hand. Aid is arriving from the Chinese government and various other international organisations but it is not enough.
Please assist us in our venture to save innocent lives, and combating the cruelty of the earthquake with the warmth of humanity.
Every penny will go a long way and it WILL make a difference.
